Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest independent charity evaluator, has awarded the CHOC Foundation a 4-star rating for its strong financial health and for receiving a 100 percent score for its commitment to accountability and transparency. CHOC Foundation has earned this elite distinction 13 times since 2005.
Charity Navigator uses key metrics, including governance and ethics, to help determine which charities operate in accordance with industry best practices. Organizations are also evaluated for their openness with donors and key stakeholders. Charity Navigator reviews more than 8,000 charities to help guide intelligent giving.
“The CHOC Foundation’s exceptional 4-star rating sets it apart from its peers and demonstrates its trustworthiness to the public,” says Charity Navigator President and CEO Michael Thatcher. “Only a quarter of charities rated by Charity Navigator receives the distinction of four stars. Based on the CHOC Foundation’s elite rating, people can trust that their donations are going to a financially responsible and ethical charity.”
In addition to its 4-star rating, the CHOC Foundation is a member of the Woodmark Group, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing philanthropy to improve children’s health. Members support the leadership and development of its staff and provide best-in-class data analysis and business intelligence.
“Our donors want to know that we are using funds wisely to support CHOC’s important mission and vision. That’s why we work so hard to earn their faith and trust,” explains Doug Corbin, senior vice president and chief development officer, CHOC Foundation. “We are proud of our 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and hope this recognition – and our other accomplishments in philanthropy – continue to demonstrate how seriously we take our responsibilities.”
